Our collaboration with the CHUM Foundation
The CHUM Foundation was created in 1998. This parastatal organization is the result of a union between several hospitals and their respective foundations. These were Hôpital Notre-Dame, Hôpital Saint-Luc and Hôtel-Dieu de Montréal. Today, it brings together a large number of committed donors, partners and volunteers. Their generosity helps fund medical research at CHUM. CHUM is one of the largest university hospitals in Quebec. At Appwapp, we’ve already had the honor of working with the Foundation. Here are the details!
Donation terminals
The CHUM Foundation relies on public donations to make a meaningful impact in the field of medicine. Previously, it employed the method of distributing plastic collection urns in various locations to gather donations.
The organization recognized the shortcomings of this approach. Firstly, it restricted donors’ payment options, as participation required cash or a checkbook. Secondly, the physical ballot boxes were vulnerable to theft, and the process of tallying the donations was time-consuming.
This institution then asked us to create donation kiosks. We were delighted to accept this honorable task. We designed, developed and installed customized systems to meet the foundation’s needs. Donors can now pay by credit or debit card. The application also provides a monthly donation report to facilitate fund management.
The Web microsite to manage the big lottery
The CHUM Foundation was even more ambitious! In 2021, it organized a lottery in partnership with the Régie des alcools, des courses et des jeux (RACJ). Anyone aged 18 or over could take part. All that was needed was a lottery ticket, sold for $10 each. The organization offered 3 purchase methods:
- Online, via a dedicated website
- Through partners such as Metro grocery stores
- By buying tickets in bulk
Those who bought physical tickets had to validate their registration code on the dedicated website. We designed this microsite.
Here is our mandate for the Prodon website:
- Generate numbered tickets
- Validation tool for physical tickets
- Reporting tool of synchronization with Prodon
- Ongoing technical support throughout the campaign
We also ensured that the system complied with the standards imposed by the Régie des alcools, des courses et des jeux (RACJ).
Conclusion: A rewarding and fulfilling experience
We’re very proud to have contributed to the development of medical research with the CHUM Foundation. Did you know that the organization’s donation terminals were the first of their kind in North America? Or that it was the first time that the Régie des alcools, des courses et des jeux (RACJ) authorized a draw with a digital component? We’re delighted to have been able to apply our digital expertise to these challenges! Would you like to leverage our expertise for your projects as well? If so, don’t hesitate to reach out to us!
