Target API level requirements for Google Play apps
In order to maintain an optimal level of security for Android and Google Play users, Google now requires that all applications meet its target API levels. Google Play therefore sets up a process so that each new version of Android improves the user experience, security and performance. If your existing application targets a lower API level, it will not be available to Google Play users with an Android system newer than your API level.
Basically, we could summarize that for new Android applications you should target API level 33 or higher. For new Wear OS applications, it will be necessary to target an API level between 30 and 33 (Android 13) so that it is available to Google Play users. For existing Android applications, you must target API level 31 or higher. For Wear OS applications, you will need to target API level 30 to 33 (Android 13). We recommend you to carefully read all the detailed information in the link below published by Google Play-Android Developers to get all the details.
This change causes a lot of updates for our customers.
In addition to the Google requirements that you must put in place, it is even more important to keep your mobile application up to date in terms of libraries (ReactNative, Kotlin, Swift, etc.). This process can sometimes take time if your application has not had regular maintenance. Don’t delay in making this upgrade or contact us so we can help you.
