Montréal en Histoires: what is it?
Montréal en Histoires is a producer of digital content. It was founded with the goal of showcasing Canadian culture and history in a modern way. In other words, by using new technologies and digital art. It offers the largest video projection course in the world. This is called “Cité Mémoire”. Other educational and cultural activities are also available on the site. These include quizzes, podcasts and rallies.
In the early days, it was a stand-alone non-profit organization. Later, the project was integrated into the celebrations of the 375th anniversary of the city of Montreal. Indeed, the municipality had not yet established a specific program a year before the festivities. Montréal en Histoires therefore proposed to expand the celebrations with its activities.
Our participation in the Montréal en Histoires project
Montréal en Histoires is a large-scale project. We are grateful for the trust the organization has placed in us. It was a pleasure and an honour for us to have been a part of it. Preparations began years before it was adopted by the City of Montreal. We then proceeded to integrate the activities into the festivities. Here’s what we’ve done in concrete terms:
- The design and development of the “Montréal en 375 temps” microsite. It contains 375 archives meticulously selected by Montréal en Histoires.
- The wireframe and the development of the “Participatory Timeline” website. This site allows you to share your knowledge about cultural events organized in the city.
- Implementation of a modern web structure for Old Montreal, which contributed to the birth of Montreal Wifi.
- The Cache Server project. The structure makes it possible to download the application on-site more quickly. To do this, we used several types of cache and proxy. We also ensured that the project could adapt to changing needs.
